Travel Assistance at Malaga Airport - Personal Write Up
Hi Jo
Thanks for getting back to me. Mum said that she was so well treated at Malaga and I believe all sorts of assistance would have been provided if asked for. It’s useful to know though that, with the works going on at Malaga airport, at the Departures drop-off they try to channel all cars except taxis to the left-hand lane. I said to the guard on duty that my mother was minusvalida and he said he’d let me through on that occasion, but another time I’d need to show Mum’s disabled card. It’s worth remembering to ask disabled relatives to bring their card from the UK.
My mother can walk, albeit slowly, but is very asthmatic and has a bad hip so walking is difficult. She did say that totally disabled people can be picked up from outside. I took her to Check-In and they said that she’d get assistance after Security. I was able to help her to Security and kind people let her ‘jump’ the queue. She did have to remove her jacket at security which was a bit of a game because she had a shoulder bag diagonally across her, but I went through to help her off with her jacket. She then got a bit confused because they put her tray containing jacket and bag through the opposite conveyor belt to the one she was waiting at.
It was a pity that I could only see that but couldn’t help. She then just had to walk a very short way straight ahead to where the buggies waited, and she was taken straight to the plane.
All in all she was delighted with the way she was helped at Malaga.
Linda
