Bus from Malaga Airport to Estepona

I KNOW THERE IS A COACH TO MARBELLA FROM THE AIRPORT, DO YOU KNOW IF THERE IS ONE TO ESTPONA OR PEURTO BANUS? ( EXCUSE SPELLING!) I HAVE A EDERLY MUM WHO CANT WALK FAR .

You either take the bus to Marbella Bus Station and then change for the Estepona Bus or from the Airport go to Malaga Bus Station and then get the bus to Estepona.

here is the bus website

Joanne
www.malaga-airport-guide.com

Thanks!

I am looking for somewhere to take my ederly Mum in Jan for a couple of nights- realise weather wont be great, so need somewhere with shops.
She cant walk too well so needs to be flatish.
I have a friend with a bar in Marbella ( not that we would get there at night) so know that is quite nice and flatish on the prom also have had a couple of trips to Peurto Banus.
She wants somewhere Spanishy rather than East End Bars etc which old town Marbella is I know, where we can just people watch with maybe a city tour or in a nice hotel with maybe an indoor pool for me and sister!
Was hoping for somewhere a bit nearer airport really but dont know places up that way.
Thanks for the info regarding buses

Hi,
Well if you want close to the airport, why not try Malaga City.

It really is a great City, with lots of history and museums including Picasso and lots of shops and very Spanish.

Lots of hotels and only 15 to 20 mins drive from airport or can even get the train.

Marbella / Puerto Banus is 45 minutes drive away. It can be a little hilly in some areas too.

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Marbella / Puerto Banus, lots of hotels and apartments.

For hotels have a look at http://www.malaga-airport-guide.com/ go to hotels on the left hand side.

Good luck

Jewellery Shop at Malaga Train Station

Hello!

I'm a girl from Finland. I was having a holiday in Marbella and Malaga last spring and i had lovely time there.
I have a problem now. I wish you could help somehow!? I bought a very nice silver bracelet in Malaga railwaystation,
cost about 50-60 euros. And i'm lost that marvellous bracelet now...crying!
I'm just wondering, if you would know the shop, which is one the same floor than railway...if i remember right, the little
jewellery shop was about opposite to main doors. They had kind of orange/black/white plasticbags.

So if you would know the name of this shop, i coudl order one bracelet for me.This may sound a little stupid thing, but hat bracelet
was very important to me.

Greeting,

Hi Mari,
Im sorry I dont know which shop that is.

if you speak spanish why not try call the Statin direct. the main website is www.renfe.es maybe they can put you through to the correct station.

Driving from Malaga to Gaucin

Hi Jo,

My family and I are flying into Malaga arriving Saturday Evening.
We are staying in Gaucin. Our tour company has given us directions for driving in our Hire car from
Malaga Airport to Gaucin. These directions tell us to avoid the Autovia Toll road, and instead tell us to use the N340 from Malaga down to Estepona,
then the A377 up to Gaucin. But from the Map the N340 seems to go through all the Towns, so I’m concerned it may be slow.

I wondered whether there might be any reason why they recommend avoiding the Toll road?
Might it be that the N340 is a sufficiently good/fast road that it simply isn’t worth paying the toll or as a ‘first timer’ struggling to
work out how the Toll system works?

Which route would you take?

Many Thanks

Andre

Generally the maps never say take the toll road.

If you are going to drive from malaga to Gaucin, you drive towards marbella yes?

Well you can just join the told road from Malaga Airport (at Benalmadena) stay on it until around Manilva, where there is a Toll Road Junction. By this time you would have paid for the toll at around Calanhonda San Pedro and Manilva. The you come off the toll road I think at around Manilva and take the road up to Gaucin.

Have a look at www.googlemaps.com but dont take all their words for it....they do make mistakes too..

Good luck

Malaga to Osuna

Hi Jo,
Just looked on the Malaga Airport Guide and saw your email address. Can you give me some info on how to get from Malaga Airport to Osuna in Seville??
I am visiting a friend there and have my flights booked but need some advice for my onward journey. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,
Debbie.

Hi Debra,
The www.renfe.es website is a little strange and you dont get the same info when you put it into english.

On the main page its says this Quiero viaja desde minimo 3 letras type in osuna, then you go to the next page, click the right hand button. Then you can choose the station where you want to get to or from.

Its difficult to get info from Malaga to Osuna though.

I would give them a call, im pretty sure there will be someone that can speak english.

Malaga to Albufiera

My wife and I will be in Malaga next April. We plan on renting a car, possible in Madrid and then sightseeing and driving on the way to Malaga. We will then be going to Albufeira. Since it is quite expensive to drop off a car in another country, we were wondering how best to get from Malaga to Albufeira. We were thinking about going by ferry but don't know if that is possible. Would appreciate any ideas you may have.

Hi Larry,
From Malaga to Portugal is really common, lots of people seem to want to do this.

There is a bus / coach from seville that goes to Faro, then you can get another bus or train maybe.

Taxi from Gibraltar to Malaga Airport

Hi JoMy three friends and myself are going to Gibralta on Saturday 3rd November. We are travelling by coach from the Royal Costa Hotel in Malaga, but thecoach leaves Gibralta on the way back at 3.30pm and we wish to stay longertill about 5.Could you help me by advising me on how to get back ie a taxi would be good, could we pre book one in Gibralta and do you know how much it would cost.

Look forward to hearing from youRegards

to be honest Im not too sure if you can get a taxi all the way from Gibraltar. Im not too sure how it works (Gibraltar taxis in Spain). When there maybe speak to one of the taxi drivers.....if you can then maybe you can book him.

If not then outside Gibraltar in La Linea there are taxi which will be able to take you to the airprot.

Its around 120km so you are looking maybe around 150euros or so

Malaga Airport to Estepona

Hello Jo

I have been reading your web site and what useful information you have
We are arriving into Malaga Airport on Monday 8/10/2007 around 12.00 noon then going onto Estepona.
We would like to Do this the cheapest possible way but I do not want to hire a car.
Taxis are quoting over 100.00 sterling. We are both fit and able and can do both train and bus

What time scale would we be looking at please?

Hope you can help.

Regards

Margaret Atkin

Dear Margaret.

The quickest way would be to get the Direct Airport Bus from Malaga Airport to Marbella Bus Station and then Change for a bus to Estepona. Here is the direct bus website .

Once on bus from Malaga Airport its a 45 minute journey. Then from Marbella to Estepona its saying is 1 hour. If you were to get a taxi it would be about 25 to 30 minutes.

Malaga Airport to Orgiva Granada

Hello,I am arriving at Malaga airport tomorrow evening, expecting to land at 2020 local time. I will then need to get to a place called Orgiva, which is south of Granada, approximately 90 minutes drive away. Please can you advise me as to how much a taxi will cost for that journey and whether it would be cheaper for me to book in advance.
Thank you very much
My reply
Dear Biddy,
Here is a map from Granada to Orgiva. Its around 120 km. Taxi drivers do have a price book iwhich you can ask to check. It works out around 1euro 20 or 30 cents per km. So you will be looking around 150 to 180euros....its hard so say exactly. You cannot book taxis here, they are outside when you arrive.
You could look at getting a private Malaga Airport Transfer

Works at Malaga Airport

Works at Malaga Airport
We went to have a look at Malaga Airport the other day to keep up to date with the works.

Considering all the work going on, it is very orderly and amazing how everything is continuing to carry on.

Driving up towards the airport there is a temporary bridge from the Airport going across the road to Malaga Train Station. If you are leaving the airport to go to the station is is clearly marked opposite the terminal for where you should walk.

We drove into the new car park that is now open, we were very surprised how small all the spaces, it really was quite tight! As you drive through it, you join up with the old car park.

Eventually once all work is done, the airport should be capable of handling 9,000 passenger an hour. New Car, new passenger terminal and a second runway is what will eventually be built.

There is lots of security and people around to help if you need. There is a big walkway going in in front of the car park

Malaga Airport Plans

The agreement was finally signed in September for work on the second runway at Malaga Airport to commence. It will be built almost parallel to the existing one and will be able to handle larger aircraft like the Boeing 747 and new Airbus. It is expected to take 28 months to build and is due for completion at the end of December 2009. A tunnel will be built under the new runway to house the current Malaga-Fuengirola raliway line and new AVE high speed train which is due to run from Malaga along the western Costa del Sol. This service is due to be operational by February 2010.

When the work is completed the airport will be able to deal with 20 million passengers a year. It currently handles 13 million and this will increase its current capacity of 37 operations every hour to 72."

So the railway is not that far away in 2010!

Seville about 2.5 hours away. Lovely City very Spanish

Have a look around www.malaga-airport-guide.com and www.nuevaandalucia.blogspot.com lots of information about things to do.

www.googlemaps.com will give you a good idea where everything is.

Bring layers....if a little chilly the shops put on the heating.

Thin rain mack as if it rains it really rains.

Just layers and slippers as the floors get very chilly but in october it wont be that cold.

Christmas in Malaga

Hi, I googled Christmas in Malaga and I got onto your blog. I am traveling their from December 27 to December 30 this year. Will the buses and trains run around that time? Is it extremely busy? Should I book my hotel now? I was also hoping to take a trip to Seville as well. Is that a good time to go? Thanks, Suzen

Hi Suzen

The website for the Trains is www.renfe.es

For buses its http://www.estabus.emtsam.es/

I cant get to find about tickets for Christmas, but Im pretty sure they will be working, although, you may have to change rather than go direct.

Seville is lovely. Not too sure about for Christmas

Christmas is funny here as January 6th is really the main day for the Spanish when the presents are given out.

I would ask some questions on a forum like www.britishexpats.com or www.holidaytruths.com then you can get some real personal information.

Halfway between Malaga Airport and Gaucin

HI,

I'll be renting a place for 3 weeks up in Gaucin next June.I've invited many friends and relatives. My husband isafraid that I'll be running a taxi service. If I'm willing to do a part of the drive on the Gaucin-Malaga Airportroute--what is a good meeting place for me and my friends(understanding that they will be tired from their US flight andthey won't want to do lots of bus switching)Thanks so much.Rose

Firstly, if there is anyway they can fly to Gibraltar that would be easier and nearer you.

The problem is that the train only goes as far as Fuengirola which is still quite a drive for you.

They could get the airport bus which goes from Malaga Airport to Marbella Bus Station in around 45 minutes and is cheaper than the Toll at around 6€uros now!

Its still quite a drive though around an hour.

This is all I can give you. You will probably end up being a taxi service, could you get them to hire cars??? not just that but traffic can be high in June too so it will be longer

Is there a bus service during the early morning , hire car with driver or any other options.

Thanks alot

A good website to check out exactly how far something is is www.googlemaps.com I dont know Torreblanca too well.

The taxis at the airport carry a book which you can check howmuch it will be.

They are outside the arrivals hall.

YOu could try and get quotes for a private transfer from Malaga at www.malaga-airport-guide.com sometimes depending on the number of people it can work out a little cheaper.

Youth Hostels in Malaga and Mijas

How much does it cost roughly? Also, Do you know if there are any Youth Hostels or other cheap accommodation in the area. Hi Andrew

A great website to look at for distances in www.googlemaps.com

Malaga Airport to Malaga City is about 15 minutes. I would think that here as its a city there are quite a few hostels around. You can get a train from Malaga Airport to Malaga.

You can find all info www.renfe.es

Mijas is about 25 minute drive from Malaga AIrport. The train stops at Fuengirola which is near Mijas so you would have to get a bus or taxi to your final destination.
