Managing Property In Spain

Why you need property management in Spain

Management of your property in Spain is something that you will have to consider if you are not a permanent resident.

It can add even more expense but if you don't have someone looking after your flat, house or villa there could be a leak that goes unnoticed for weeks or months on end.

You have two choices of Property management in Spain, either a neighbour or a large company.

All the people who I know have chosen a neighbour to keep an eye on their property.

Actually they are normally a bit more than a neighbour. Most complexes have a couple who do a bit of property letting and management around the complex and it is normally these people who will offer a key holding service and a basic management package swell.

After we had purchased our apartment it lay empty for eight months whilst we were extracting ourselves from the UK, rather than hope for the best we paid our "Managing Agent Neighbour" to check the flat once per week, give out keys to friends and family who were staying at the apartment and organise any cleaning.

For this service I paid €1 per day (€365 per year) plus extras for cleaning etc.

Of all the expenses that you incur I don't think that this is one to cut back on.

You can generally find details of your local property management people on the notice board or by asking around.
