In July last year 2007, the brand new car park opened providing a total of 2,500 new parking spaces. Works are still continuing on the new access roads and coach station. Terminal 1 opened with its extension of 9 new checkin desks, 3 more boarding gates and another luggage carrousel and eventually there will also be a new runway. Its great to start seeing the works taking shape. Its all part of the Plan Malaga and below you can see a video of how Malaga Airport was and how its going to be.

Malaga Airport is currently the fourth busiest Airport in Spain and in 2006 it handled just over 13 million passengers and in 2007 it handled 13.590.537 and thats before all the works are finished. Malaga Airport has two terminals, 90% of its passengers arrive at Terminal 2 and the two terminals are interconnected on the upper level.

As you would expect from a large International Airport, Malaga Airport has the full range of services available including a selection of Malaga Airport Buses and Malaga Airport Trains. From just outside the main Malaga Airport arrivals hall you will find a queue for the Malaga Airport Taxis. This queue can get pretty long during the peak travel times and it may be advisable to pre book private Malaga Transfers which are less hassle and sometimes cheaper.
